I'm Having a Crazy, Awful, Wonderful, and Scary Idea... what do you think?

So, I had an amazing dream last night; I wrote an entire novel, chapter by chapter on my Blog, publishing a chapter a week until it was done. It was insane, I was having a nervous breakdown and everyone I knew was calling me crazy, but I was a woman possessed. The idea has been haunting me since then and I can't get it out of my mind. So what do you think? Am I crazy? Will I go mad? Should I have my head examined or do you think I should go for it? I really want to do it, but if no one reads it I'll be crushed, ruined and my reputation will to sullied. I'll have to resort to writing on the street corners, begging for words and story ideas. Would you do it? Let me know... Minnette

Free Copies of Starsight Volume I for The Month of June!

Just set up a promotion with Jan's Paperback Books where we're giving away an ecopy of Starsight Volume I for the month of June to everyone who wants one! So keep that in mind if you haven't had a chance to pick up a copy yet. I'll be posting details on social networks and anywhere else I can think of with links and details for the free book.

In the meantime, I'm trying to put together an epic fantasy blog book tour. If anyone out there has a fantasy blog site, let me know; I'd love to post an article about writing, fantasy, world building or anything else you and your followers would like to chat about.

Self Publishing for the First Time...

Kobo & Kindle & Smashwords, oh my!
I have to say when I went into this innocently enough, I thought since I had the rights back to my Starsight books, I'd make a quest into self-publishing and see where it took me. Down the rabbit hole would have been a breeze after this, but it's my own fault; I guess I'm actually a guy at heart. Instructions, I don't need no stinkin' instructions! Well, as it turned out, I did. After four days of grueling re-dos of both novels, hours of combing through the books again and again, and many, many bad uploads, I finally did it! I'm so proud of myself... Below are my beautiful new contributions to the eBook realm. I think they are all beautiful now... but we'll see. xxx M:o)

The new look...

So happy to say that work on the 2nd Edition of Starsight I & II is coming around. We have a lovely new cover (thanks to the brilliant artwork of Derrick Freeland), the Kindle books are available now, should be on Kobo soon and I'm working on the 2nd edition print. We'll have another new cover for Volume II soon and I'll share that when it comes in. It's wonderful to be back to work again after all this time.

Thanks to Our Beautiful Friends - The Independent Book Stores

JAN'S PAPERBACK BOOKS - 18095 S.W. TV Highway, Aloha, Oregon 97006

To be very honest I have been exceptionally lazy over the last 2 years. Granted a year of that time was spent getting my right hand back (which is still giving me fits - I signed  books today for the first time in a long time and my autograph looks awful). But a wonderful friend and one hellofva book store owner, talked me back into the fold. My thanks to Debbie Burke for her words of encouragement... and yes, Deb, I don't need to write 8 books a year!

Today I joined many other authors over at Jan's Paperback Books in Aloha and had a blast helping out by selling books and chatting with readers. I met so many new writers and readers. It went a long way to spark that old feeling again and I'm simply grateful. Jan's Paperback has been mother, sister, confidant, confessor, and general cheer leaders for so many local authors it's been overwhelming. We really appreciate all you guys... you have no idea how much.

So please get over to you local independent book store this holiday season; without them books may become a thing of the past. We can't afford to let them go.

Bless all the wonderful book sellers out there that work tirelessly, with little pay, long hours, bad backs from standing on concrete floors all day. Without you we are nothing...

The Road to Recovery...

"...the report of my demise was greatly exaggerated..." Mark Twain

I disappeared in April like Alice falling down the rabbit hole, but I promise, it was not due to anything overly tragic. The plain simple truth is... I haven't been able to type since then. In January I hit my "funny" bone (stupid name!) and trapped my ulna nerve. It took the docs a long time to figure this out (stupid doctors!) during which time my right hand stopped working properly (stupid hand!). Anyway, long story short, I went into surgery four weeks ago and I have the Frankenstein scars to prove it. I'll be in recovery and physical therapy for 6-8 weeks, but already I've got my hand back and am very happy (nice hand!).

I've missed writing terribly, although I did buy the Dragon Naturally Speaking while I was sick and it seems to work very well. I'm looking forward to using it to help keep my limbs happy. I never, never, ever want that to happen again.

While I was out, my DS and DIL had my third grandson, Celilo Augustus Freeland. He is the most precious darling ever! Welcome to the world little fella.

So I'll slowly get back to everyone I've missed so much... thanks so much for your patience and concern. I'll see you in the ether! Minnette :o)

A new release out now from our own Jayna Da Silva, a very talented author.! Check it out... xoxo M;o) In California's Sierra Nevadas, wh...
