The Centurion & The Queen - Book I - FREE READ

Book I in the Centurion Series
a historical fiction by
Minnette Meador
Resplendence Publishing

Celtic dripped from the sword onto the centurion’s sandals, staining his naked toes and mingling with the spattered British mud. An unconscious shiver of disgust ran through Marius. He was not prejudiced; after all, he had spent sixteen years on this sodden island and was quite used to these people. But it did not stop the unwelcome flash of sentiment that the blood filtering down through his toes was somehow infected, impure. Marius knew better, but that did not help either. Twenty-five years of rigorous military training and a forty year lifetime of Roman indoctrination was difficult to avoid. He wanted nothing more than to wash his feet.

“Merda!” he swore under his breath. (continued)

What Two Greats Have to Say...

PIERS ANTHONY - “[Starsight] is one powerful and imaginative fantasy adventure novel with many nice touches...there is magic galore, and challenge galore; nothing comes easy. It's the first of a series, and it should do well...”

SPIDER ROBINSON - "After millennia of discovery and exploration, and especially the last century or two of strip-mining, you’d think the fantasy genre would be wrung dry by now, leaving its writers with nothing to do but rewrite, presenting old ideas in newer clothes. Minnette Meador has begun reinventing and redefining the field by page 30 of STARSIGHT, and hasn’t stopped by the final sentence. But there’s more than just novel ideas going on, here; Meador also knows the unfakeable secret of keeping even newcomers turning the pages: care about your characters so much it becomes infectious. This is a Typhoid Mary of a book, from a writer to watch."

I'm Having a Crazy, Awful, Wonderful, and Scary Idea... what do you think?

So, I had an amazing dream last night; I wrote an entire novel, chapter by chapter on my Blog, publishing a chapter a week until it was done. It was insane, I was having a nervous breakdown and everyone I knew was calling me crazy, but I was a woman possessed. The idea has been haunting me since then and I can't get it out of my mind. So what do you think? Am I crazy? Will I go mad? Should I have my head examined or do you think I should go for it? I really want to do it, but if no one reads it I'll be crushed, ruined and my reputation will to sullied. I'll have to resort to writing on the street corners, begging for words and story ideas. Would you do it? Let me know... Minnette

Self Publishing for the First Time...

Kobo & Kindle & Smashwords, oh my!
I have to say when I went into this innocently enough, I thought since I had the rights back to my Starsight books, I'd make a quest into self-publishing and see where it took me. Down the rabbit hole would have been a breeze after this, but it's my own fault; I guess I'm actually a guy at heart. Instructions, I don't need no stinkin' instructions! Well, as it turned out, I did. After four days of grueling re-dos of both novels, hours of combing through the books again and again, and many, many bad uploads, I finally did it! I'm so proud of myself... Below are my beautiful new contributions to the eBook realm. I think they are all beautiful now... but we'll see. xxx M:o)

The new look...

So happy to say that work on the 2nd Edition of Starsight I & II is coming around. We have a lovely new cover (thanks to the brilliant artwork of Derrick Freeland), the Kindle books are available now, should be on Kobo soon and I'm working on the 2nd edition print. We'll have another new cover for Volume II soon and I'll share that when it comes in. It's wonderful to be back to work again after all this time.
